Mr West is a consultant plastic and reconstructive surgeon. His private practice is built around the face and neck, with the deep plane face and neck lift at its centre.

He qualified in medicine at the University of Sheffield in 2004. Surgical training took him from Yorkshire to Edinburgh and Dundee. His PhD at the University of Edinburgh studied the stem cells found in human fat.

In the NHS he is a consultant at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, where his work covers sarcoma surgery, microsurgery and complex reconstruction. He appeared in the BBC Two series Saving Lives in Leeds.

In 2018 he completed an advanced training fellowship in cosmetic surgery. He continues to train alongside facelift surgeons in the UK, Europe and the USA.

Training and experience

Mr Christopher West is a fully accredited UK trained plastic surgeon who is on the GMC specialist register for plastic surgery. He has a busy private practice based in York and Leeds where he provides all aspects of cosmetic surgery, with a particular interest in facial plastic surgery and advanced deep plane facelift techniques.

    He is a consultant plastic surgeon within the NHS at Leeds Teaching Hospitals where his specialist interests are complex limb reconstruction, sarcoma surgery and microsurgery. He featured in the BBC series 'Saving Lives in Leeds'. Chris studied medicine at the University of Sheffield and qualified as a doctor in 2004 with a 1st Class Honours in Medical Science. He did his early surgical training in Yorkshire, before moving to Edinburgh to complete his higher surgical training in plastic surgery. He returned to Leeds in 2019 to complete a further fellowship in sarcoma, lower limb reconstruction and microsurgery. He was subsequently appointed as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Leeds Teaching Hospitals.

  3. Award-winning researcher in fat grafting and facial rejuvenation

    Throughout his career, Chris has been involved in research. During his training he was awarded a PhD from the University of Edinburgh for his international prize-winning research on stem cells within fat and their regenerative potential. His work received multiple prizes from BAPRAS and the European Association of Plastic Surgeons. Based on his research, Mr West routinely uses fat grafting and fat transfer as part of his approach to total facial rejuvenation to restore youthful volume during facial plastic surgery and facelifts. He has written multiple book chapters, published widely in the scientific and surgical literature and presented his work globally.

  4. Internationally trained expert in advanced facelift and cosmetic surgery

    In 2018 Chris was awarded an Advanced Training Fellowship in cosmetic surgery, which allowed him to train with experienced cosmetic surgeons. Mr West's drive and passion to deliver the best results he can for his patients means that he regularly attends international conferences and visits surgeons in Europe and the USA to learn and share ideas on the most recent techniques in facelift and facial rejuvenation. As a result he offers extended deep plane facelift techniques. Mr West's extensive training and experience, matched with his continued drive to be at the forefront of plastic surgery and facelift techniques, allow him to provide a high standard of care to his patients.
